On the 4th of December 2021, SMARTSEL, together with their strategic partner, Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Selangor (PPAS), launched the 'Selangor Digital Education Network' at the Pesta Buku Selangor 2021. The launch was officiated by Dato' Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Selangor's Chief Miniter.

PPAS, with the assistance of digital support and connectivity by SMARTSEL, has upgraded its ICT infrastructure and resources to become a Smart Library, enabling it to become an educational hub for the Selangor Digital Education Ecosystem. With high-speed internet access in place at PPAS branches, the infrastructure will spill over to the surrounding areas to reduce digital gaps and existing connectivity problems.

 

The Selangor Public Library has already conducted Language Discovery classes during the COVID-19 pandemic and has received overwhelming responses from various levels. With the upgrading of the high-speed internet network, it will help Selangor citizens enjoy various other digital programs such as E-Book, Webinar, and Online Tuition. These programmes will not only be conducted at the main Shah Alam branches but also at all of the existing PPAS branches in the rural areas.  

 

The connectivity network built through PPAS branches will be a core network that will eventually cover the entire districts of Selangor.  

 

The Selangor Basic Technology Loan Scheme or SEPINTAS,  spear-headed by PPAS, which was recently announced by YAB MB on 26 November 2021,  aims to help those affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic in the education and learning sectors. SEPINTAS will spark innovation and will be introduced in stages throughout the library branch to support learning and economic activities through  K-economy's new norms while also helping to improve socioeconomics through digital device lending.
